Herbert and Jane Oyer Annual Lecture (March 2015)

The Department of Communicative Sciences and Disorders presents the 2015 Herbert J. and E. Jane Oyer Lecture featuring two talks: Dr. Kenn Apel is a professor and Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of South Carolina, Columbia. Dr. Apel has more than 25 years of experience conducting research in the areas of spoken and written language and working with children, adolescents, and adults who have language problems and language based learning deficits;  Cynthia Puranik, PhD, CCC-SL P, is an Associate Professor in the school of Health & Rehabilitation Services at University of Pittsburgh. She completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Florida Center for Reading Research at Florida State University. Dr. Puranik is a certified SLP with experience working in various clinical settings. Her research focuses on understanding early writing development.
